- Karen Brown's Recommendation:
A charming Austrian couple, Christopher and Heidi have realized their dream of running a small hotel in Tuscany with the acquisition of the Hotelito Lupaia. Taking over from the previous owner, the property has benefited from their renovations and taste in decor. They have taken out the kitchenettes in favor of more spacious bathrooms for the two suites, and what were described as “bold” colors in the decor of the previous owner have given way to soft subtle colors and a richness of decor. The Hotelito Lupaia sits on a vast property overlooking the ancient hilltown of Montepulciano. With two stone farmhouses with beamed ceilings and brick floors as a base each guest room has been given its own distinct character. Most of the guestrooms enjoy the warmth and coziest afforded by a fireplace; are accessed independently from the outside, and each benefit from the privacy of a terrace or garden. Features such as extra space, extraordinary views, loft beds, spacious showers are divided among the rooms. Breakfast is served in the garden or in the large dining room with a fireplace. A lovely bi-level pool for simply lounging and taking in the breathtaking scenery has been specially designed to hug the hillside. Cooking classes and wine and cheese tastings are arranged, as well as sumptuous Tuscan fare. With all these marvelous ingredients, you simply cannot go wrong.
