- Karen Brown's Recommendation:
The Elk Cove Inn, built on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, is an early example of Arts & Crafts architecture with gables, a gazebo, and a million-dollar view of cove and towering rock weathered by the crashing sea. In the main house, the dining room is set with tables in front of two walls of windows looking out to the spectacular coastline. The extensive breakfast buffet is presented on an antique pine buffet with lots of choices of fruit and a variety of cooked dishes. Enjoy complimentary “mix your own” cocktails and wine in the dining room and cozy fireplace sitting room overlooking the magnificent Pacific. All guests are greeted with a gift basket containing fruit, wine, snacks and the inn’s famous giant homemade chocolate chip cookies. Pamper yourself at the European day spa which specializes in healing massage, soothing body treatments and hydrotherapy. Our favorite rooms are the four suites, particularly the upstairs ones with their high ceilings. Each has a large living room with a spectacular view, a spacious bedroom, a private deck, and a large bath equipped with Jacuzzi. There are six guest rooms in the main house and four cottages that enjoy ocean views through large picture windows. A private staircase leads down to the coastal path and from here a few steps lead you to the beach. If you are looking for a place to get married, call Elaine Bryant, your gracious hostess, and inquire about the inn’s special wedding package.
