- Karen Brown's Recommendation:
Beach House Hotel, 3½ miles from the town of Half Moon Bay, offers stunning views of the ocean and the boats of Princeton Harbor. Welcoming guests since 1997, Beach House Hotel has 54 lofts, each with a patio or balcony, with beach facing rooms (our favorites) boasting spectacular vistas of the entire 7-mile stretch of crescent-shaped coastline aptly named Half Moon Bay. Be aware that none ocean facing rooms are noisier, a busy highway runs just behind the hotel though double-paned windows have been installed to block its impact. Each loft is a tastefully decorated two-tiered suite with a king-size bed and sleeper-sofa. Designed with the guest’s comfort in mind, every loft enjoys a wood-burning fireplace, wet bar, refrigerator, CD/stereo system, robes, and bathroom with double sinks and deep tub. If you are traveling with children, ask about their family accommodation—two neighboring lofts that share a common main door. For extra space and comfort, the 625-square-foot Half Moon Suite has two decks, vaulted ceilings, and a sitting area in the bedroom. Guests enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast buffet of croissants, muffins, scones, and fruit either on the outdoor patio or in their rooms. Beach House combines breathtaking views of the ocean with the comforts of a quality hotel. There’s a small swimming pool and a large hot tub.
