- A Karen Brown Recommendation
When fog settles on the coastside, sun seekers travel approximately thirteen miles east along the scenic Carmel Valley Road into Carmel. In addition to a beautiful drive through some magnificent horse country, your journey will be rewarded by the charming, intimate country village of Carmel Valley whose lovely restaurants, art galleries, antique shops, and numerous wine tasting rooms all cluster on the few streets that spoke off its main street. If you want to venture out for a day of wine tasting and are concerned about driving, there is a bus that travels between Carmel-by-the-Sea and Carmel Village. In the Carmel Valley you will also find three championship golf courses and Garland Ranch Regional Park. The park’s 4,000 plus acres offers excellent mountain trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding along the willow-lined banks of the Carmel River.
