- A Karen Brown Recommendation
The Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park is one of San Francisco’s most engaging museums. It offers so much diversity for the visitor. The rainforest dome is amazing with its colorful butterflies, flitting birds, lizards and tiny frogs—it gets more humid as you get towards the top. The aquarium has a fascinating array of fishes; the planetarium is awesome and offers regular programs; the playful penguins appeal to children of all ages, and the “living, landscaped” roof is a nice touch. All that being said, crowds and waiting in line can prove to be a nuisance.
