A husband in love with Amarone, a wife into history and two children into, well kids stuff. We stayed with Lucia for 5 days at the end of August, and in a long trip to Europe all of us have our stay at Villa Monteleone as awesome! For me, I got to be in the centre of where my favourite wine is made. The classic old house is great as a B&B in its own right, but Lucia encouraged us to treat it not just as a B&B. On top of this, via a very subtle entrance, Lucia took us down to the cellars, showed us all the techniques of making wine, and of course gave us a few tasters.

The house is perfectly situated for Verona in day for sightseeing and at night for the opera . Its also in easy reach of Gardaland and for walking in the hills of Monte Baldo above Lake Garda. We managed to do all of this in our short visit, and then return every day to Lucia’s fantastic hospitality and helpful advice of what to do , tailored for each of our tastes. Lucia and Monteleone obviously works well for couples, but for us worked even better as a family.

We stayed at the Hotel Monteleone three days in late June. Santa Lena suite was wonderful with its own terrace where we could bask in the day and drink wine in the evening. Lucia and her staff took such good care of us so we felt like home. We also had a tasting of estate wines. High class on every single one of them. I highly recommend this place. A wonderful place on earth.

A perfect stay. We spent three wonderful days in Valpolicella and had Villa Monteleone as our base when exploring the wonderful surroundings, the great food and good wine. Our time at Villa Monteleone was perfect from the very first minute. The atmosphere is very warm and generous and Lucia and her staff take their time to help you to get the best possible stay.

Villa Monteleone is charming and comfortable in its scenic wine country surroundings - and provided a peaceful respite for us in the midst of our travels. My husband and I stayed in the San Vito suite, and thought the sauna was great! Owner Lucia Riamondi is warm and gracious, and gave excellent recommendations for dinner locally at Dalla Rosa Alda as well as Enoteca Al Cavolo. Breakfast in the garden was plentiful and relaxing. We easily ventured to both Verona and Sirmone for sight seeing. Lucia gave us a private wine tasting - and her wine is delicious! We look forward to returning.

Lucia is a wonderful hostess who will absolutely make your vacation! We put ourselves in her very capable hands every day and had a wonderful and memorable vacation. You do feel as if you’re visiting family but better! Her thoughtful touches are much appreciated. The wine is amazing, the restaurants she recommended were spectacular and we cannot wait to go back. It is a quiet beautiful place with outstanding views.

My husband and I were very pleased with our stay at Villa Monteleone - so pleased that we went out of our way to stay there on our return trip.
Lucia is a fabulous hostess, full of information on the surrounding vineyards and restaurants.

If you like the countryside, vineyards and fine food - this is the place.

Signora Lucia Riamondi was a wonderful hostess and runs a great Bed and Breakfast. Villa Monteleone is easy to find and if you have any trouble, just call and she will guide you there. The wines produced at her vineyard are wonderful and we had the "best red wine" we ever tasted. Be sure and take advantage of her offer to taste the wines, particularly the "Amarone" and her desert wine "PalSun". Based on her recommendation, at a local restaurant, we had the best meal we experienced during a 10 day driving trip throughout Northern Italy. The San Vito suite was spacious and very comfortable. Her help took care of everything we needed and Signora Lucia was very gracious. We have previously used Karen Brown recommendations in Italy and this is one of the best we seen. I heartily recommend it to anyone traveling in the Verona or Lake Garda region of Italy.

Lucia is very hospitable, and the villa is more inviting that you could ever imagine. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief two day stay. Lucia was kind enough to give us a full tour of the winery and vineyard, as well as a tasting of her superior wines. We also tasted wines from several vineyards in the classico area, but hers were by far the best quality. We hope to return in the future!

Last Fall with the help of your book my wife and I spent two wonderful days at the Villa Monteleone B&B in Gargagnago outside Verona. The host Madame Lucia D. Raimondi could not have treated us any better. It was grape harvest time which we got to witness and Ms.Raimondi gave us a personal tour of her wine operation. This was after spending nearly an hour talking to us and enjoying a bottle of her excellent wine. We strongly reccommend the Villa Monteleone for any one who might enjoy this kind of experience.

....I do want to tell you of a real gem in Italy recommended by you. It is Villa Monteleone in Gargagnigo in the Valpolicella region. We have never experienced a warmer welcome and any place we have ever stayed in our almost 50 years of traveling. They could not have been more gracious. The Villa Monteleone also turned out to be well located, very charming and quite romantic. They make great wine there. We fell upon this location somewhat by accident which turned out to our good fortune and look forward to returning some day. It is also a great value. We have stayed at 5 other of your recommended locations in Italy and all were excellent and charming, but the Villa Monteleone surpassed all of them as to the great personal hospitality and value and was equally charming and romantic.

My husband and our two boys (12 and 18) stayed at Villa Monteleone in mid August 2008 for two nights. It was a wonderful experience we will never forget! The owner of this beautiful old villa, Lucia Raimondi, truly made us feel at home. We stayed in two huge bedrooms, had two private bathrooms in the hall next to the bedrooms and a large terrace accessed from one of the bedrooms with an astonishing view to the vineyards and mountains! Every night a tray with large bottled water and glasses waited for us in each bedroom, and the breakfast was beautifully set up and had a large generous variety. Lucia was very friendly and helpful and we felt more like staying at a relative house than at a B&B. The nearby restaurant she recommended us for dinner was excellent. Lucia also gave us a private tour of her winery and her vineyard before we left. Everything was very clean and neat. We would happily return to Villa Monteleone!

Lucia Raimondi, the owner and proprietor, was absolutely the most incredible hostess that you could hope to have! When you pull up to the gate, you have to ring the bell to announce your arrival, then you are greeted by a wonderfully warm and sophisticated lady and her way too cute little dog, skoshie. Lucia speaks perfect English and has a very interesting history. We were very lucky that our trip corresponded with her time to bottle her wine (delicious!). She gave us a tour of her wine cellar and took us through the entire bottling process. She also recommended a wonderful restaurant for us to visit on our one night there, which was located on top of the hillside and overlooked the valley. Our room was the San Vito Suite and it was so comfortable and homey. Breakfast was served outside in the garden and her staff was exceptionally nice and accommodating. I only wish we could have spent our entire trip there. This Villa is located about 20 min. outside of Verona, but we enjoyed being there more than the trip into the city. Lucia even arranged our next hotel stay outside of Modena. I would recommend this experience to anyone and give her a definite two thumbs up!!!! Her wines and olive oil are amazing and worth experiencing.

My husband and I loved Villa Monteleone. Lucia is a warm and gracious host and could not do enough for us. We felt right at home and by the end of our stay felt we had known Lucia for many years. We enjoyed the special touches Lucia provided. When we mentioned a special interest, information would appear in our room later the same day. We had our breakfast in the lovely garden and the coffee kept on coming and the breakfast was delightful. It did not take Lucia long to find out that we were early risers and she made sure coffee was ready. The morning we left we had to leave early and she made sure we had coffee before we left. We really enjoyed a personal tour of her wine operation and ordered her wine when we we had the opportunity.

My husband and I have never felt more welcome and well cared for than we did during our stay at Villa Monteleone. Lucia Raimondi is the warmest and most gracious hostess you could possibly ask for. She is also an extremely intelligent and talented business woman whose vineyards in the Valpolicella wine region produce excellent wines that we wish were easier to obtain in our part of the United States. We sampled the wine and toured the wine cellar and vineyards while we were staying at the villa. The villa itself is beautiful, and the gardens are lovely. Our breakfast was delicious and served on beautiful dishes with elegant matching linens. Our stay was perfect. We could not have asked for anything more. Please do not plan a visit to Villa Monteleone unless you are prepared to love both the people and the place. If we ever have the opportunity, we will definitely return.
