What a delightful stay!! Allessandro was gracious and informative granting our every wish. The Casale was clean; the breakfasts were delicious and our wine above the pool overlooking the Tuscany landscape was perfect. We especially appreciated Allessandro’s recommendations for ’local’ dining establishments which enabled us to interact with the locals while enjoying wonderful local food (especially the wild game!). We highly recommend Allessandro’s villa for those traveling in Tuscany and San Gimignano. Kathy & Clem Heick, Trish and Jerry Olson

The lovely Il Casale del Cotone was a highlight of our wonderful stay in Tuscany. Situated in the countryside just outside of fabulous San Gimignano, it is an ideal location from which to explore both the Chianti and many of the Tuscan hill towns. The inn itself is exceptional; our room was sizable and immaculate with large windows opening onto an exquisite view of the property, its vineyards and olive tree groves. It is clear that Alessandro (whose family has owned this property for many years) and his young wife, Isabella, take great pride in the place and have paid great attention to detail in their choice of woods, tiles, colors, furniture that combine to create an environment that is hard to leave. Aside from the property itself, Alessandro was a charming host who went out of his way to make us feel welcomed and to offer directions, suggestions for places to visit, restaurants, etc. delightful in every way! Don’t miss this opportunity!

Nothing we read on-line or in guide books could have prepared us for how wonderful Il Casale del Cotone is. Starting with our charming host, Alessandro to the comfortable room, to the pool and to theview of San Gimignano, it all was more than we could have hoped. When we pictured Tuscany, we picture a large stone house amoungst olive trees and vineyards. Now we can picture Il Casale del Cotone instead because that is exactly what it looks like. Make sure you read the history of the property that is in the lobby where you sign in, it is full of very interesting facts about the property and the area. Finally, climb the hill in the vineyard behind the house for the most expansive view of San Gimignano and all of its towers. A little tip, once you climb the vineyard hill, you can exit the property from the back and walk the 3 miles into town on a fairly level road. If you are looking for a place in Tuscany that is close enough to walk to town during the day but whose land, setting and ambiance makes you feel as if you are out in the middle of the Tuscan countryside, Il Casale del Cotone is definately the place for you. We will be returning!
