What an authentic escape in to the heart of Tuscany, it’s land and it’s people. Caminino is the real deal for those of us who are looking not for a touristy trap but a true experience of Italy. Emy was fantastic at providing everything we needed and more - and all with his genuine passion for the historic property, the land, and his lovely family. Our dinner at a remote spot on top of the hill run by local friends was about as close to heaven as we have ever been - English and Italian were spoken only through the smiles and delicious food that kept coming. A personal tour of local winery made us feel like king and queen for a day. The peaceful evening settling over the vineyard and olive grove swept over us as we tucked into our cozy room surrounded by ancient stone walls, charming domestic touches, and every comfort desired. We are grateful to have been welcomed by Emy and his whole family as friends.

We loved our stay in Pieve di Caminino. Everything was made with great care and love and craftmenship. The place is beautiful and the welcome was warm. A place to come back for as much as for the people as for the Pieve and the area.

Very unique establishment. We were greated by Emy who was very warm and treated us to a glass of wine and a tour of the grounds. The grand hall was very beautiful. Unfortunately, it was the last time we saw it. Each morning and afternoon the entrance was locked. The apartment was not as clean as a typical Karen Brown pick. The hot water in the shower was turned off and required some trial and error before success. Roof leaked during a heavy downpour one night, directly on to our pillows. We had breakfast in our room each morning for 10 Euros. This was the most we paid in the 4 similar places we visited in central Italy. We each received a cup of coffee in which the cup was only half full with an additional yogurt and piece of bread. Not much of a breakfast for 10 Euros. This was repeated over 3 days. The massage and painting classes were not available. I have used Karen Brown’s guides for more than 20 trips to Europe and this was only an average at best inn. The area is wonderful to explore, just pick one of Karen’s other choices.

PROPERTY RESPONSE:
Dear Sir:

I perfectly remember your short stay in Caminino, and I am VERY sorry and disappointed to read some things you wrote. It hurted me, because when I met you told me you were happy and satisfied. Complaints written and posted so long after your stay may help other people in the future (?), but it is useless for your own holiday.

I don’t like to give explanations on so clear facts, anyway:

1)the grand hall is open just on checking dates and on request for a visit. Some of the exposed antiques have a VERY high value. The grand hall is directly connected to my office, where I am EVERY day from 9.00am to 12.30pm and from 3.00pm to 7.00pm. Guests have just to buzz me to visit the grand hall.
2) As I told you on check in, I offer 24 hour assistance to all guests: you knew where my office is, my apartment was right below your suite and you had also my cellphone number to contact me: for any problem, you should have contacted me immediately.
3) A breakfast served directly to the suite, including FRESHLY squeezed orange juice costs much more in all the hotel where I have been: please consider that it was served on order at your required time. Again about breakfast, you should have returned it if not corresponding to your standard, or have asked for all the addition you needed
4) You NEVER asked for massage, which were AVAILABLE, or for painting classes, which must be booked in advance.
Now, I work hard personally every day to GRANT BEST ASSISTANCE to all my guests, and ALL of them are always satisfied with Pieve di Caminino.
I am very sorry to loose a little part of our 20 year graet reputation just because you never asked for assistance.

What I read made me very sad.

PS If you remember, you were booked on another property outside Caminino, and thinking to make you happy I offered you the choice of a place here in Caminino. This was maybe my mistake.

This is a unique place: an historic property owned, restyled and directly managed by a family of architects. We were greeted by the youngest architect, Emy, with a hearty ’Welcome’ and a glass of white wine from his wife’s family’s vineyard. Emy is a wonderful host (we will definitely be back!). It is the perfect location to lose yourself in, moreover, Emy provided great tips and insight into the local restaurants, places to visit, wine and more. We booked the Teacher’s House, impeccably restyled with great taste by the Marrucci Locatelli architects, with the result of a fantastic apartment full of character. Three floors and a beautiful open fire - it was far too hot for us to light the fire but can imagine in colder months this would be absolutely gorgeous.

We stayed in a lovely romantic & cozy 3 story suite and had a superb relaxing holiday! The accommodation is charming and welcoming, with nearby access to Sienna, Florence and the coast by car. The swimming pool is lovely and has superb views over the Tuscan countryside. We were pleasantly surprised to receive a friendly welcome from the owner, Emiliano, together with a complimentary glass of wine and lots of helpful suggestions about places to visit and recommended restaurants in the area. (He speaks excellent English). We would definitely recommend the Historical Resort Pieve di Caminino to anyone seeking a relaxing and peaceful ’home-from-home’ holiday. Our only regret was that we had not booked to stay for longer than 7 days!

I recently moved to ROME for my job, from Germany, and immediately I became a fan of this hidden treasure of Italy, and consequently a frequent client. I was lucky enough to see this inn in at least 3 different seasons, and I cannot say which is the best: walks in the magnificent rose park in spring, swimming in the panoramic pool in summer, drinking a welcome glass of excellent \’morellino\’ wine in winter.
It is not far from Rome, specially if you are driving from the Airport. Everytime I know I have a 2 day off break the first thing I do is to reserve a suite at Pieve di Caminino, \’La Bifora\’ in spring-summer or \’The Schoolhouse\’ in winter (its fireplace is in the center of the suite, so you FEEL it everywhere).
The surroundings are full of interests, it is a perfect home base to explore all South Tuscany, from Saturnia Springs to Siena.
The only one recommendation is to respect the required check in time 3.00pm - 8.00pm: since it is a family business, they would consider very unpolite if you check in later than the requested time.

We just returned from our Honeymoon, which started right on Valentine Week - end. Pieve di Caminino was even more than I expected. Great and warm welcome at check in, and then I found my room - La Foresteria - all lighted by candles, with a giant sparkling fireplace under a Murano chandellier. The incredible service and most amazing surroundings could not be beat! We would recommend this to anyone looking for Charm, character and the ultimate experience.
