Gasthaus Die Krone.

We stayed at the Gasthof Kreuz Post but, while wandering Staufen the next day we inspected the Karen Brown recommendation Gasthof Die Krone. The owner (?) was super nice and the rooms were in a white theme and looked very fresh and comfortable. Less charming than the Kreuz Post but 30 euro cheaper, too. I would probably try the Die Krone next time.

This hotel is an excellent value. The rooms are nice-size and attractively furnished. The breakfast is quite good. The food in the restaurant is also very good. All of the personnel with whom we had contact were very friendly and helpful.

Especially at the rate of 85 Euros / night, this inn was outstanding. Room and facilities were spotless and well equipped, including hair dryer and wireless. The town of Staufen is a great find with several restaurants and lots of shops within easy walking distance of the inn. Also, the surrounding area is well set up for mild hiking and biking. Overall, our stay was excellent.

Stayed at the Die Krone in Staufen when attending Basle Art Fair (ride the commuter train and walk 2 blocks!)Very nice and terrific value. Food excellent and you should note that both father and son are the chefs, so one is always on duty.
