| One of the highlights of our France vacation! AnneMarie & John are wonderful hosts (gracious and unobtrusive) and the house and gardens are a delight to share with them. While the location may be a bit challenging to find, it is well worth the time and effort. The village environment is relaxing, the room is spacious with modern conveniences, and the wonderful breakfasts (and optionally, dinners) show attention to the quality and quantity of the local foods. Would strongly recommend this as a base to explore the Burgundy area. John & AnneMarie are very knowledgeable of the surrounding area and able to provide recommendations and maps of the discoveries that await.

We used this lovely home to explore Burgundy for a week. The house is beautifully decorated and the gardens are lovely. The view from the 2 large windows in the back bedroom was wonderful. The room was huge and our bath was lovely. The exquisite linens on the bed are luxurious and the bed is very comfortable. The house is elegant and comfortable, the setting is a perfect country retreat. Breakfasts were delicious with wonderful coffee and orange juice, fresh fruit, great croissants, crusty bread and beautiful jams. (Cereal and yogurt if you want.) We had a delicious dinner our 1st night with good food and conversation. Ann-Marie and John are great hosts, we felt like their home was our home. We could see the medieval village of Mont-Saint-Jean from our window and it is worth the drive. The castle is in private hands but the view from the terrace is wonderful. Driving back from Dijon and Beaune was more of a trek than we had realized, the country roads are tricky in the dark. So we often had grand lunches and smaller dinners, including a picnic in the dining room on our last night. A delightful home with charming hosts, a reasonable price and beautiful setting. Highly recommended.

.....La Chouette qui Chante in La Motte Ternant was an excellent experience. Not only was our spacious room and bath a delite, but hosts Annamarie and John Williams provided superb meals and thorough information about historic sites that made our stay memorable....

We were utterly charmed by the welcome and the attention to detail that we found throughout the house, and having stayed at a couple of other recommended B&Bs after La Chouette qui Chante realised what great value it was. By far the best breakfast we had during out two weeks stay, as well as finding John and Annemarie going out of their way to recommend restaurants in the region. Well worth the stay.

Our stay at La Chouette Qui Chante was the highlight of our 2-week stay in France. Annemarie and John were welcoming, friendly, informative, and entertaining with their stories of life as ex-pat Brits making a home in rural France. They were helpful in recommending places to see in Burgundy and accommodating our other travelers’ needs. Our room, the house, garden and country setting were all quite lovely. The breakfasts and dinners were substantial, delicious and beautifully presented. We enjoyed sharing an aperitif and homemade appetizers with the Williams before dinner. La Chouette Qui Chante offers quiet serenity in a beautiful setting, hosted by two gracious, energetic, really nice people. Highly recommended!

We again extensively used your guide as we travelled through France for a month. Chouette Qui Chante in La Motte Ternant was lovely. The owners (Williams) were wonderful, delivered fresh croissants every morning, unit was neat and clean in the "gite" in the barn, just wonderful. They invited us in for a drink but we could not make it that night so they instead delivered some little treat. A nice touch -- we are pretty independent in our travels and don't really need such wonderful attention - but nonetheless, very nice. Highly recommended as well.
