Homemade Castle Murray Brown Scones

Ingredients :
3 cups brown wholemeal flour
3 cups white flour
250g butter (soft)
1 tablespoon bread soda
½ cup brown sugar
Large pinch salt
¾ litres buttermilk
1 egg yolk
Description :
These are our very famous homemade Castle Murray Brown Scones, that works well with homemade soups or with some smoked salmon.
Instructions :
First mix together the brown flour, white flour, salt, brown sugar and bread soda. Mix soft butter with flour mix and cream. Incorporate the butter milk slowly (the dough should be soft and light). Roll out and cut to shape, place on a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Brush tops of the scones with egg yolk. After cooking scones, they should be light & shining brown in colour.
