Contrada Durano

An intimate and friendly restaurant catering primarily for staying guests although sometimes local people,when they want a "special" meal come too. Seating only up to 25 people max allows personal attention to everyone and you can meet the other guests too. We work with a fixed menu which is changed every day (no fish is served). Most of the foods are home grown and our organic meats are procured locally from certified local organic breeders and are very high quality. Other foodstuffs are locally and carefully sourced.On request we can cater for vegetarians, gluten free, non pork eaters. We have a selection of some of the best local and regional wines to accompany your dinner and make it memorable.

All the cooking is done by Concetta. All meals are started fresh so there’s no reuse of old food. Concetta has been the chef at Contrada Durano now for over 10 years and still invents and creates new dishes. Her policy of fresh foods and quality materials assures that the cuisine is always light and digestible. For example, she rarely fries food but prefers lighter ways of cooking so meals and dishes are never "fatty" or greasy.

As a small rural restaurant working mainly with guests it has not been possible to accede to the heights of Michelin guides and the like but a recent guest from Los Angeles wrote on trip advisor that despite the fact he has been to at least 30 of Conde Nastes top venues he will always find his way back to Contrada Durano ..in fact he and his wife have stayed now at least five times perhaps the best accolade we could ask for ..you can see his comments on trip advisor.

Our fixed menu comprises of the following: an aperitivo,outside in the summer months. starters usually two or three different small tasters, a pasta dish -a main meat course with fresh vegetable side dishes -dessert bottled water and very nice wine -after dinner coffee and drinks. For guestsstaying at the Contrada Durano we offer a fixed price of Euro 35, per person.Outside guests Euro 38-40 depending on day’s menu. Special or festive dinners 40-60 per person. VAT ,taxes and wine and drinks are always included as is service.

This was Concetta’s special New Years Eve menu on 31/12/2010. cured lamb with pecorino cheese and truffle sauce in a pastry case, toast slices with home made chicken liver patè, toast slices with smoked goose breast, mixed salad tossed with home produced olive oil and balsamic vinegar, stuffed totellini in chicken broth served with grated parmesan cheese, roulet of hen served with mixed home made vinegar pickles, guitar string spaghetti with spiced beef ragout, beef fillet with red wine, melted cheese sweet potatoes roasted with aromatic herbs, fresh artichokes tossed in the pan with fresh garlic and olive oil, chocolate soufflè served with warm pastry cream, home grown wood fruits, rosso conero and pecorino DOC wines. This menu included everything and was absolutely fantastic.  This was a special though and was Euro 60 per person and finished at 2am.
