Overview:

Navarre is an ancient region that shares a frontier with France and is bordered by Rioja, the smallest region of Spain. There are 9 crossing points into France and as a border region evidence of conflicts are everywhere, with ruins of castles. Romans, Christians, Muslims and Jews have all made their mark on the region and its architecture is as diverse as its landscape. The Fiesta de San Fermin, when bulls run through the streets of Pamplona is particularly popular. The Festival is celebrated annually for a week in early July. The bulls that are to be fought that day are run through the streets early in the morning from the 7th to the 14th of the month. The run starts from corals at the bottom of town and ends in the bull fighting arena. If you decide to participate go easy on the parties the previous evening and watch out for the horns.
