From the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket to the south of the peninsula of Cape Cod on the eastern side of Massachusetts at the Atlantic Ocean to the western border and the small mountains of the Berkshires, Massachusets is a vibrant, diverse state geographically. The center of the state offers beautiful natural vistas and small rural farms. It is fitting to find Old Sturbridge Village, a re-creation of a rural New England town from the ealry 1900's and the Johnny Appleseed Trail in the middle of the state.

While the beauty of this state may take your breath away, it is the history of Massachusetts that is truly fascinating. Starting in the Colonial period with the Pilgrims landing at Plymouth, to the civil disobedience of the Boston Tea Party, to the beginnings of the Revolutionary War at the towns of Concord and Lexington, and more recently the legacy of the Kennedys, the 'Big Dig' and the decriminalization of marijuana, Massachusetts has always figured prominently in the activities of America.
