Macedonia

Overview:

The kingdom of Alexander the Great, Macedonia, is located in the north of Greece. An area rich in archaeology, history and natural beauty, Macedonia offers great choices for the visitor: Thessaloniki, the second largest city of Greece, the Halkidiki Peninsula with Sithonia – Porto Carras offering beautiful beaches and views, Holy Mount Athos at the borders of Ouranoupoli with remote beaches, and at the west, Nympaio at Florina with the vineyards, the mountains and the lakes. One should not leave Macedonia without seeing Mount Olympus, the mountain where reigned the 12 Gods in antiquity and highest mountain in Greece and the lake of Kastoria with the still waters and the wonderful manor houses built around.
