Hamburg
Overview:
Hamburg is one of Germany's three city states, the other two being Berlin and Bremen. The capital city, Hamburg, is the second largest city in the country as well as being the largest port due to its location along the banks of the Elbe River. Historically, Hamburg has been a major trading city and for this reason was a major target of Allied bombers during World War II. By the end of the war the much of the city had been reduced to rubble. Much of the city has been rebuilt in the older style, so that today it has a mellow feel of an older age.
