Karen's Review Of This Property:
Sitting on the corner of a broad, tree-lined street in Capitol Hill, a few blocks from Volunteer Park, Salisbury House offers immaculate accommodation within a beautifully renovated 1906 Prairie-style house. High-ceilinged public rooms with lovely hardwood floors are furnished with great taste and envelop the guest in comfort. The open-plan sitting and dining rooms, with their white-painted woodwork, are light and airy; and well-placed groupings of chairs and sofas encourage guests to relax around the large fireplace. The library across the hall is a cozy spot to sip your morning coffee or play a game of chess. Upstairs, there are four, traditionally furnished, queen bedrooms (all corner rooms) with private bathrooms. Each room has a different color scheme and mood, but all are charming. For example, the Rose room has a canopy bed draped in floral material, antique writing desk, and window seat; while the Lavender room, which can sleep three, offers a mahogany sleigh bed and a 6-foot-long soaking tub. Downstairs, with its entrance off the pretty garden, a spacious suite, more contemporary in decor, has a sitting area with fireplace and TV, a wet bar, and a huge whirlpool tub. All this and the friendliest of innkeepers, too!
