Karen's Review Of This Property:
As a base for exploring and savoring the wonders of the breathtaking Olympic National Park, the Lake Crescent Lodge cannot be surpassed. In every respect, this hotel is a real jewel. It has a prime location right on the edge of the stunning Lake Crescent wrapped by layers of mountains. On calm days, the lake's still waters are reminiscent of the majestic fjords of Norway. The heart of the hotel is an appealing, old-fashioned, white wood-frame building with an old-fashioned porch in front where guests relax in rocking chairs and enjoy an idyllic view across a lawn to the shore where rowboats dot the pebbled beach and a pier stretches into the water. The oldest part of the hotel dates back to 1916 when one of the early settlers, Al Singer, operated a tavern here. The nostalgic charm is felt throughout. A spacious lounge has an inviting ambiance with paneled walls, hardwood floors, a bar in one corner, and a stone fireplace adorned with a Roosevelt Elk. A few of the least-expensive guestrooms (without private bathrooms) are in this part of the hotel. The most sought after accommodations are the Roosevelt Cottages with stone fireplaces. Stretching along the edge of the lake, these cottages were built in 1937 to commemorate the visit of Franklin Roosevelt. In addition, a wide variety of other types of rooms are located in newer annexes and are more contemporary in mood.
