Karen's Review Of This Property:
Set in a relaxed residential neighborhood, the Boreas Inn is the quintessential ocean front beach house. Built in 1920, its spaces seem deliberately playful in design. Take one section of hallway upstairs, for example: a narrow, 5-foot-high secret passageway that suddenly opens up to reveal an attic-style bedroom (the charming Hideaway) with dormered ceilings, and beautiful quilt and tile work. The entire place is rather joyously decorated to capture the casual, buoyant nature of living so close to the water. It's intimate, eclectic—a Key West meets the Northwest type of place. The Dunes Suite downstairs is sunny and warm with a beautiful spa-like bathroom under a skylight. French doors open onto a small deck. The Pacifica with its ocean view is especially inviting in its cool blues and whites. Wander a five-minute, path down to the beach. Soak in the hot tub out in a private gazebo. A sunny, casual sitting room with chenille loveseats, fireplace and large windows offers many amusements. Rent the funky, neighboring Beach House (breakfast not included), a 120-year-old, three-bedroom cottage with uneven wooden floors painted in forest green, a brick fireplace, and lots of wicker furniture. Walk or bike the Discovery Trail that runs in front of the inn, along the ocean and over the headlands, to the North Head lighthouse and Port Ilwaco.
