Cottage Inn Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

The Cottage Inn, built as a resort in 1938, offers a number of storybook cottages nestled under the trees on the edge of Lake Tahoe. The lovely cottages, all with individual themes (Bird’s Nest, Bit of Bavaria) capture the mountain-cabin atmosphere with their exposed knotty-pine walls, rich fabrics, pine furniture, and a variety of beds (brass, willow, or pine). We especially admired the 5 deluxe rooms in Bear Lodge appropriately adorned with life sized wooden carvings of bears. The Pomin House, the original home on the property, contains a reception area, a breakfast room, and a large sitting room with games, books, local restaurant menus, and a small sitting area where wine and cookies are set out in the afternoons before the blazing log fire. In summer you can happily while away the hours sunning yourself on the dock and swimming in Lake Tahoe’s cool, clear waters—the inn has access to a private beach. The more energetic can take advantage of the lovely bicycle trail that passes in front of the inn and travels the lakeshore drive. Vikingsholm, Emerald Bay, and D. L. Bliss Park are a short car ride south. Ski resorts are between a five-minute and twenty-minute drive away.
