Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Hotel Sausalito boasts a colorful past. Its early days saw activity as a bordello and as a speakeasy during Prohibition—with its location next to the docks, liquor from the trucks that rumbled past its doors conveniently ended up in its parlor. It is now home to the Purdies, a delightful Scottish family whose brogue will charm you, but who will impress you most with their warm, professional approach to innkeeping. A steep flight of stairs (there is an elevator) leads up to guestrooms from the small street-side entry. With a backdrop of walls washed in warm pastel tones, the furnishings are custom-designed and handcrafted by local artisans and have been selected to enhance the individuality of each guestroom. The size, outlook, and bathroom appointments determine the room tariff. We enjoyed one of the larger rooms overlooking Sausalito’s main street, buffered from the noise by well-insulated windows. Regardless of the guestroom’s location or size all have most attractive furnishings, art, and linens as well as the convenience of internet access and cable television. A little rooftop patio is a tranquil place to relax. For breakfast you are given coffee and pastry coupons for the adjacent Café Tutti.
