Karen's Review Of This Property:
Just a block from the ocean and the hustle and bustle of La Jolla village, The Bed & Breakfast Inn at La Jolla sits on a quiet, stylish suburban street. Originally built for George Kautz in 1913, the home’s most famous occupant was the composer John Phillip Sousa, who lived here during the ’20s. Behind its street-front façade you enter a grassy, flower-filled courtyard where the only sound is that of a tinkling fountain. Join fellow guests each morning in the dining room to share a candlelit gourmet breakfast and travel adventures. Bedrooms vary from snug upstairs rooms in the original house to a spacious suite with a sitting room offering distant views of the ocean horizon. Pacific View with its fireplace and ocean view is one of our favorites. Beautiful furnishings, lovely fabrics, and fabulous antiques have been carefully selected by the decorator, who also serves as the inn’s PR person. It’s an excellent location for walking to the beach, shops, and restaurants of La Jolla and it is just 200 yards from the Museum of Contemporary Art. I was pleased with the availability of on-street parking.
