Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Joshua Grindle Inn, located just a short walk from the center of Mendocino, is surrounded by a 2-acre plot of land. A white picket fence encloses the front yard of this most attractive white clapboard farmhouse, which, although architecturally simple, has hints of the Victorian era in the fancy woodwork on the verandah. In the 1879 farmhouse you find the guest lounge, a sedate room with old paintings and portraits on the walls, a fireplace, white lace curtains, a trunk as a coffee table, and an antique pump organ. The light, airy guestrooms have a New England-country ambiance enhanced by early-American antiques and some have their own fireplace. Of the five bedrooms in the main building two overlook the town of Mendocino and the distant ocean. All of the bathrooms here have been remodeled with marble counters and whirlpool and deep soaking tubs. A natural-wood cottage, Saltbox Cottage, has two cozy bedrooms, each with custom pine cabinets and luxurious Jacuzzi tubs and showers. The most romantic rooms are those tucked into the age-weathered water tower in the rear garden. Especially attractive is Watertower II, a sunny, cozy room on the second floor with a glimpse of the ocean.
