Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Inn at Schoolhouse Creek offers a range of comfortable, charming, and eclectic accommodations. An assorted collection of century-old cottages, lodges, the historic Ledford family home (circa 1860), and two modern suites nestles in 8 private acres set back across Hwy 1 from the ocean. All are individually decorated in a casual country-cottage style, liberally sprinkled with family antiques and curiosities, and offer a choice of views and varying degrees of spaciousness. Each has a fireplace (some wood, some gas), full bath (many with spa tubs), and private deck or garden sitting area. Some have self-catering kitchens. The focal point is the comfortable old Ledford farmhouse, with its redwood ceilings and paneled walls. Curl up with a book or game by the fire, enjoy breakfast on the sun porch. Owners Maureen Gilbert and Steven Musser go out of their way to stress that this is a family destination—children and pets are welcome, and well catered for. Sample the delights of nearby Mendocino but return in time to soak in the hot tub and reflect on the day’s activities while you watch the sun set over the Pacific.
