Karen's Review Of This Property:
Northwest of New York City in the Catskill Mountains there is a 125-year-old country estate that is now an inn housed in three buildings: the Lodge, the Carriage House, and the Cottage. Rooms differ in décor as befits the architecture of each building. Both the Carriage House and the Cottage, built from lumber milled on the property, carry an Adirondack theme with beamed ceilings and stone fireplaces. The Eagle’s Nest, the inn’s most elegant room, has a living room with vaulted ceiling and stone fireplace, upstairs king bedroom and bath, and a full kitchen. In the Lodge, where furnishings are traditional, the Cardinal Room, used by Cardinals Spellman and Hayes, is a large corner room with a gas fireplace and whirlpool tub. The inn has two parlors, a billiard room, and a formal dining room; and a full breakfast is served on the veranda, screened in summer and glassed-in in winter. As you ascend the winding staircase from the entry hall, there are paintings, prints, and other memorabilia to catch your eye. A stay here is like spending a few days at a grand country home—with a fireplace and spa tub in your bedroom, there is plenty of luxury. Summer and winter activities are yours to enjoy with the lake being the biggest attraction.
