Karen's Review Of This Property:
As we drove through a town boasting an incredible concentration of antique dealers, I jokingly threatened my husband (I love antiques!) that if I saw an appealing inn, we were staying the night. Later, he thought I was kidding when I asked him to turn back after passing what appeared to be a very promising inn. A handsome, two-story cobblestone building topped by an octagonal roof and chimney stacks, Ye Olde Landmark Tavern hugs the contours of the street corner. The front entry delivers you into the inviting bar and presents glimpses into numerous, intimate dining rooms. Wood tables, soft lighting, and country stenciling create a charming ambiance. With just five guest rooms at the top of a narrow stairway, in Europe this would be termed a Restaurant with Rooms. Befitting an antique town, the rooms are decorated with lovely antiques and enjoy private baths. The rooms were already reserved, but we were fortunate to view a suite spanning the front of the inn that enjoys a sitting room and separate bedroom. A continental breakfast is offered in the downstairs dining room. The tavern has hosted travelers for over 150 years. Today, a warm welcome, assurance of good food, and comfortable lodging are extended by a team of two brothers—Andrew, a Culinary Institute graduate, oversees the kitchen and Will mans the reception.
