Karen's Review Of This Property:
This is another of Cape May’s Victorian inns that has been lovingly restored by its owners to reflect the style of living of an earlier era. Victorian furnishings are used throughout the inn while flowered wallpapers in the parlors and the bedrooms, chandeliers, and furniture of the period all create that Victorian lifestyle. This is an inn where guests come to the formal dining room for breakfast at 9 am and where breakfast is relaxed with good conversation around the large mahogany table. In late afternoon when you return from the beach, shopping, or more active pursuits, you may sit on the porch and relax. The Humphrey Hughes House’s brochure declares that it is “for ladies and gentlemen on a seaside holiday” and that’s exactly why you would come to Cape May and stay in one of these grand old Victorians. The enclave in which it and the others are located will take you back to the time when ladies and gentlemen brought their families to the shore for the cooler temperatures during the summer, when the beach and the ocean created enduring memories for parents and children alike.
