Karen's Review Of This Property:

Built in 1892 by a whaling captain, the Fairthorne repeats the award-winning formula of the historic properties of the picturesque summer seashore resort of Cape May. It too has broad wraparound porches and, of course, those rockers in which you can relax and lose an hour or two. This inn is built in the Colonial Revival style of architecture: when you enter its wide front hall, you see a parlor on the left and a staircase that climbs to the bedrooms on the second floor. Each of the nine comfortably furnished rooms, some with fireplaces, is named for a woman with historic ties to the house. The Emma Kate suite has a king bed, an adjoining sitting room with a queen sofa bed, and a bathroom with a two-person marble shower. Bridget’s Room, overlooking the gardens, has a queen bed with an antique armoire and a bathroom with a shower. Next door, The Cottage has three guestrooms named for the Hutchinson’s granddaughters. A gourmet breakfast is served each morning with juice, fruit, freshly baked breads and muffins, and a hot entrée. In the afternoon guests can enjoy tea and light refreshments and before retiring, enjoy a glass of sherry by the parlor’s fireplace. The inn provides complimentary beach towels, chairs, bicycles, and on-site or free nearby parking. Restaurants and shopping are as near as the wonderful beach.
