Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Red Lion Inn dates back to 1773 when it was a small tavern where coaches stopped on their journey between Boston and Albany. Today this inn is an institution: visitors come to experience the setting, the history, the collections, the food, and the ambiance established by generations of hospitality. The owners take pride in maintaining the antique charm and authenticity of the inn. The floors tilt, the walls are not square, and the furnishings look as if they have been there forever. There are 108 guestrooms, 95 with private baths, all offering the amenities of a quality hostelry. Rooms have antique beds (be sure to specify your choice of queen or twins when you make your reservation), flowered wallpapers, white bedspreads, comfortable seating, and good lighting. Some rooms in the main building, my favorites, look out to the Main Street, while others look out to the several buildings that also house guests. Stockbridge and the Berkshires are rich in festivals of the performing arts—Tanglewood is close by—and fine-art and antique galleries. There is easy access to a wealth of sports and the inn has a pool. Stockbridge is New England at its best, especially in the fall with its glorious foliage in full color.
