The Porches Inn Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

Six 1890s row houses, once the homes of mill workers in North Adams, have been renovated into a new hotel with 47 rooms and suites. Uniquely conceived and executed, these buildings have been combined and now have two long porches (with rocking chairs of course)—hence the name of the hotel. In the building where the reception and office are located there are two common rooms, one a living room with a fireplace and the other a den and a dining room where the expanded Continental breakfast is served. The rooms are individually decorated in a contemporary style, yet use lamps and other accessories from the 1940s and 1950s. The feeling of the rooms is definitely contemporary, with amenities presented in elegant but minimally designed containers—tissue, for example, is housed in a stainless-steel box. Guests have complimentary access to the Business Nook (equipped with a computer with DSL and printer) as well as the sauna, fitness room, outdoor hot tub and year-round lap pool. Extended-stay units with kitchenettes are also available. The Porches Inn is located across the street from the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, the largest contemporary art museum in the country.
