Karen's Review Of This Property:
Visiting historic Deerfield is dropping into the heart of a 330-year-old New England village, with historic homes lining its wide Main Street. Fourteen of the village’s old houses hold more than 20,000 objects—furniture, silver, glass, ceramics, and textiles—made or used in America between 1650 and 1850. The classic 1884 Deerfield Inn is the centerpiece of this village and its 23 guestrooms are all named after people associated with the village’s history. Horatio Alger, room 141, has pastel window draperies inspired by a book on period valances. The wallpaper picks up the floral, romantic theme and the mahogany king-sized sleigh bed has an inviting patchwork quilt across the foot. Many of the bedrooms have the vibrant paintwork typical of the Federal period in New England, while others are reminiscent of the English settlers that first made Deerfield their home. The Everett House room has a delicate English window treatment and sunny wallpaper in greens and warm yellows, with cheerful throw pillows on the four-poster bed. All rooms have private baths, telephones, flat screen TVs, and individual climate controls and many have antique four-posters. The award-winning restaurant serves American cuisine, the terrace café provides light meals, and the tavern offers local and international brews.
