Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Wade’s Point Inn is an enchanting waterfront complex with an 1819 Main House, a century-old Eastern Shore Farmhouse, and a 1990 Mildred T. Kemp Annex; all facing the Eastern Bay where it joins the Chesapeake Bay. Sloping green lawns dotted with Adirondack chairs and hammocks swaying in the summer breeze border the bay. Screened porches off the public rooms and bedrooms allow one to savor the gorgeous setting. This is a summer inn, and it looks and feels just like one—a place to come to for several days on end; to read and relax. Originally, the inn was built in 1819 by Thomas Kemp, the designer and builder of the fast sailing ships called Baltimore Clippers, and the famous “Pride of Baltimore.” The living room, dining room, and the large front hall of the main house are spacious and filled with handsome antique furniture. Climb the 1819 stairs to rooms that span a hallway just one room deep and benefit from wonderful cross breezes. Rooms are decorated to match the charming character of the home. (Four do not have ensuite bathrooms.) The 1990 Mildred Kemp Guesthouse offers delightful, more “modern” accommodation. Breakfast is served at white wicker tables and chairs in a room created in 1890 with a full surround of floor to ceiling windows overlooking the water.
