Karen's Review Of This Property:
The town green sloping down from the Captain Lord Mansion to the river gives this stylishly decorated inn a very prominent position that befits its splendid interior. The decor is lavish, from the lovely wallpapers that adorn the walls in the halls to those in the bedrooms, each of which is named after a ship built here in an earlier era. Paintings in ornate frames hang everywhere—an obvious love of the owners who have searched long and hard to find the touches that make this inn so special. I stayed in the Cactus room with a king four-poster bed, gas fireplace, and a bath with double vanity and shower. Other bedrooms have canopy beds and whirlpool tubs for two. A delicious complete breakfast with a hot entree is served in the kitchen most mornings at two long tables where you have a good opportunity to meet and talk to your fellow guests. The parlor has a large fireplace that was burning warmly on the occasion of my visit and comfortable chairs in which to sit, relax, and have a good conversation or a cup of afternoon tea. Captain Lord Mansion is a quiet haven just a few minutes’ walk from the heart of Kennebunkport with its many shops, activities, and restaurants.
