Karen's Review Of This Property:
Pilgrim’s Inn, an historic 1793 Colonial building, overlooks Northwest Harbor and a picturesque millpond on Deer Isle in Penobscot Bay. The setting is magnificent and the views of the flowering gardens and pond behind the inn are enchanting, and immediately and totally relaxing. Easy to spot, the inn is painted a handsome barn red. Inside the decor is warm and inviting with furnishings respecting the island’s history and character with pine floors, wonderful heavy old beams, several large fireplaces, and antique furnishings. Warm Colonial colors enhance the cozy feeling of comfort. Twelve lovely guestrooms, a couple with gas stoves, are found in the main house. If you are traveling with children, consider one of the three complete cottages for a longer stay. The Whale's Rib Tavern, featuring American cuisine and fresh local ingredients, offers a diverse menu with something for everyone. The restaurant is located in a rustic barn with hand-hewn beams, vaulted ceiling and windows that frame the idyllic water setting. The inn is a good base for visiting Acadia National Park and Isle au Haut (40 minutes by ferry). At its doorstep you can hike, bike, and go boating. There’s a great gallery just up the corner from the local library.
