Karen's Review Of This Property:

When love of innkeeping and fine cuisine come together in an inn located in one of the most charming of all seaside towns, you can be assured of a memorable visit. With Mary Jo, her artistic eye giving the inn its elegant decor, and Michael adding his incredible culinary talent; both combine to provide superb hospitality. The inn’s eight rooms and six suites are furnished lovingly. The Tea Cup Suite showcases Mary Jo’s collection of tea cups. Bright and cheerful, a skylight over the bed adds to the enjoyment of early-morning reading while curled up under the sumptuous comforter. Other rooms are found either in the main house, the Carriage House or The Manor House—all spectacular and individual in their furnishings and include comfortable seating for those times when you want to relax in the privacy of your own room. The dinner I enjoyed was a feast including a seared five-spice quail, Maine lobster ravioli with diver scallops and lobster tail, and a hot raspberry soufflé served with a chambord crème anglaise. After such a wonderful meal, relaxing in the living room in front of the fire was the frosting on top of a perfect evening. Everything is close by with the main street just outside the front door (triple glazing does much to subdue the sound). During the winter the inn runs cooking classes and Michael has his own cookbook—it is spectacular, like everything these two do.

Nearly everything was lovely about this inn, from the friendly and accommodating staff, to the comfort of the rooms, the ambiance and cleanliness and decor of all areas of the inn, and the quality and originality of the meals. It’s location on the main street with its inherent traffic noise was diminished with the running of the air conditioner, but could be annoying if open windows were preferred.

Just a quick note to let you know I stayed at the Hartstone Inn in Camden, Maine earlier this week. As always with your recommendations, it was warm and wonderful and the food was out of this world. We met Mary Jo and Michael and they were delightful. Thanks Karen!
