Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Ullikana and The Yellow House are now referred to as the Inns of Ullikana. The Tudor style Ullikana, built in 1885, is one of the few remaining original cottages in Bar Harbor. Though located within an easy walk of all the town’s activities, it provides a quiet haven near the water's edge. The 16 rooms, all with king or queen beds, are situated in either the Ullikana or in the very pretty, Victorian, The Yellow House. Both old-fashioned homes boast big rooms and cross ventilation. The Ullikana was owned by a Boston Ship merchant and its common rooms are of a dark wood—appropriate to the era in which the inn was built—and the furnishings of the period are an integral part of the inn’s mood and setting, complimented by an incredible display of diverse and interesting art. Painted in colors appropriate to an oceanside town in summer, some rooms have views of the water and the boating activity for which Bar Harbor is so well known. There’s also a cottage where you can settle in with your entire family. Lots of country pine is used in the decor of guestrooms located in The Yellow House. Rooms are airy, attractive and enjoy the use of first floor sitting rooms. Regardless of where you stay, breakfasts are served either in the dining room of the Ullikana or in its garden, which is delightful during the summer months.
