Karen's Review Of This Property:
Staying at the Inn on Mt. Ada is like stepping into a fairy tale—suddenly you are “king of the mountain.” This is not too far from reality, since the inn is the beautiful Wrigley family mansion (chewing gum, you know), their vacation “cottage” built high on the hill overlooking Avalon harbor. If you arrive by ferry at Catalina Island, you cannot miss the house: the mansion appears like a wedding cake to your left above the harbor. The inn is expensive, but money seems almost immaterial, because, once through the door, you have bought a dream. You are truly like a pampered guest in a millionaire’s home, with not a hint of commercialism (until you pay the bill) to put a damper on the illusion. The lounges and dining room are exquisite: decorated with traditional furniture and fabrics appropriate to the era when the house was built. Upstairs are six individually decorated bedrooms, the grandest having a fireplace, sitting area, and a terrace with breathtaking views of the harbor. Rates include all the extras such as complimentary use of your own golf cart, a full scrumptious breakfast, and lunch. Coffee, tea, soft drinks, beer, wine, champagne, ice cream and freshly baked cookies are always available in the dining room and butlers pantry.
