Set back a few yards off bustling Main Street, The Victoria Inn is a few minutes walk from all of the attractions of Murphys, one of our favorite Gold Country towns. Owner Michael Ninos has created an oasis of elegant tranquility that unfolds as soon as you step into the shade of the wraparound porch and into the lobby. A cozy sitting area with club chairs is perfect for coffee, small talk and newspapers in the morning or aperitifs in the evening, beckons you into the intimate V Restaurant & Bar, which also does catering and receptions in a private garden. Select a bottle of wine from the cellar and, if the weather appeals, enjoy your meal outdoors on the porch. Guestroom décor is in earthtones with splashes of color, punctuated by a well-placed mix of reproduction and antique furniture. A combination of clawfoot tubs, fireplaces, pot-bellied stoves and private balconies ensures that one will fit your needs. All are equipped with invitingly comfortable beds and sparkling tile bathrooms, some with spa tubs, and topped off with the finest linens and towels. Number 6, the only theme room is modeled on a rustic cabin, replete with corrugated iron ceiling and open beams. For more space, three separate guest suites adjacent to the main building provide luxurious accommodations with more privacy.
