Karen's Review Of This Property:
The scent of flowers and a gentle, friendly ambiance permeates the air of the Desert Hills Hotel. The location is excellent—an easy walk to the historic heart of Old Palm Springs and a few blocks from shops, galleries and restaurants—snuggled up against the rugged San Jacinto Mountains. The hotel retains the aura of years past with rooms and suites reminiscent of the 1950s and 60s original desert decor. The rooms open to a central courtyard with a lush lawn and well-tended gardens surrounding a pretty pool. Ranging in size from snug, through spacious rooms with kitchenettes (the majority) to a two bedroom apartment with fireplace, all are kept in tiptop condition with excellent lighting, quality mattresses, and spotless bathrooms. From the outside the one-story Desert Hills looks like most of the other hotels of similar vintage—you only realize its uniqueness when you see that every detail shows loving care. The Desert Hills is not a flashy, trendy hotel, but rather a classic, tranquil oasis where you can settle in for an extended time, relaxing by the pool, hearing the wind whisper through the palm trees, and feeling like a friend of the family. Guests enjoy continental breakfast, outdoor kitchen with barbecues, a hot Jacuzzi, and vintage style bicycles.
