Lake La Quinta Inn is a stunning, boutique-style inn: a two-story, creamy-beige stucco building that hints of the romance of a French château with its steeply pitched slate roof, whimsical chimneys, and jaunty dormer windows. The inn is in La Quinta, several miles from Palm Springs, an opulent town of gated communities catering to ardent golfers who come to play on some of the most outstanding courses in the world. As you step inside the inn, the tasteful, refined elegance give the feeling that you are a guest in a friend’s home. The living room, with French doors opening onto the terrace overlooking the lake, has comfortable chairs and sofas cozily grouped around a fireplace. The splendid dining room also has views over the lake. There are only 13 guestrooms, varying in size from a standard room to a super-deluxe suite. Although each of the luxuriously appointed bedrooms has its own personality, they all are similar in mood with fireplaces, balconies or terraces facing the lake, splendid large bathrooms with double sinks, and top-quality linens. You might never want to leave the beautiful pool tucked in the garden, but if you are a golfer tee times can be arranged for you—there are over 100 golf courses to choose from.
