Located in one of Delaware’s most popular beach towns, the interior ambiance of this inn is surprisingly sophisticated. When I walked through the front door I felt as if I was transported across the Atlantic to a countryside hotel in England. Although, larger than most properties we consider for our guide, the Bellmoor is family owned and the Moores are personally involved with the operation, guest attention, and welcome. As a larger hotel, the Bellmoor is able to offer services not always possible in a smaller property such as a concierge, two pools, a full-service spa, and business center. Public areas are regal and impressive, yet cozy and inviting. Rich woods, beautiful hardwood floors, large open wood-burning fireplace, shuttered windows, Oriental rugs, and soft leather seating entice one to settle in. Opening onto the central garden, The Garden Room with its paned windows and enclosed terrace is where a hearty country breakfast is set out each morning. For a little more exclusivity, ask for the Concierge floor (the 4th floor specially accessed by the elevator) and reserved for adults only. Just two blocks to the beach or one might just decide to simply enjoy The Bellmoor.
