Bee and Thistle Inn Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

One of the most charming villages in Connecticut must be Old Lyme where the Bee and Thistle Inn was built as a private home in 1756. Its second owners found its location too close to the road; so they moved it back from the wide main street of this village to its present gracious setting with a welcoming curved driveway, adding enhancements such as the lovely sunken garden which you should stroll around. In the late 1930s this home was transformed into an inn, now updated to offer 11 guestrooms. From the welcoming front hall there’s a lovely carved staircase that takes you up to the tastefully decorated bedrooms on the upper floors, all decorated in Colonial style, with flowered wallpapers, quilts, and Oriental rugs. The rooms, with sitting areas and full bathrooms, have everything that a guest might want. The inn is noted for its award-winning restaurant and wine list, and the several dining rooms with their individual fireplaces are as attractive as the common areas where guests are invited to relax while staying at the inn. Readers of Connecticut Magazine voted this restaurant the most romantic in the state. I stayed here over 20 years ago and find everything about this inn to be as charming today as it was then.
