Karen's Review Of This Property:
The foundations of The Babbling Brook Inn date back to the 1790s when padres from the Santa Cruz Mission built a grist mill on the property, taking advantage of the small stream to grind corn. In the late 19th century a tannery powered by a huge water wheel was constructed. Beside the historic wheel a rustic log cabin stands as the “heart” of the inn with a homey living room where guests congregate around a roaring fire with tea, coffee and homemade cookies and enjoy a tempting breakfast buffet (trays are provided so that you can take your morning repast back to your room). Here you find my favorite room, Artists, with its outdoor tub recessed into its private deck, which looks out over the entire property. Most of the other bedrooms are found in shingled houses nestled in the garden surrounded by pines and redwoods and overlooking the idyllic little meandering brook. Each house has one room on the ground floor and one above and is decorated in French-country style with pretty fabrics and colors, and enjoys lots of amenities including a fireplace. Most rooms have a private deck and some even have soaking jet bathtubs for two.
