Karen's Review Of This Property:
Our favorite place to stay in the Carmel Valley is the spectacular Bernardus Lodge. This gorgeous boutique hotel has only 57 rooms, and the quality and service are unsurpassed. The charming terracotta and mustard colored buildings are scattered around the property which is set among the hotel’s vineyards and breathtaking flower gardens. The lobby is cozy and invitingly decorated with wonderful antiques, rich deep sofas and large fireplaces that always seem to be lit. There is no formal check-in desk at this fine property; guests are simply greeted at the door with a glass of Bernardus’ fine wine and personally escorted to their room. The spacious guest rooms are simple and elegant with every amenity imaginable. The rooms feature crisp white linens, feather beds, 2-person tubs and French doors leading to a private patio or terrace. The hotel has two restaurants offering exceptional food: One of them, Marinus, is rated one of the top three restaurants in California. There is much to do in the area, including, a visit to the Bernardus tasting room just two miles down the road or the charming towns of Carmel and Pebble Beach, just 20 minutes away by car. However you might opt not to leave this beautiful property with its restaurants, spa, heated pool, tennis court and croquet lawns.
