Karen's Review Of This Property:
Tucked off Carmel’s principal shopping street a few blocks up from the beach, the Monte Verde and Casa de Carmel face each other across Monte Verde Avenue in the heart of Carmel. Casa De Carmel, a two-story, cream-stucco building, set under a tile roof, is positioned perpendicular to the street and guestrooms all enjoy an outside entrance through Dutch doors, either off the parking lot that fronts it, or the second floor balcony. At Casa de Carmel the price differential simply reflects the bed size. Second floor rooms offer more privacy. Front corner rooms (1 on the first floor, 5 above it) are a bit larger, have king beds and enjoy side windows. Monte Verde is more French/western in style with stucco painted walls in the main house and small wooden cottages bordering the back patio. Room 6 is a spacious suite with 2 queen beds, a sitting room and beautiful bathroom. All the bedrooms are priced according to their size—there are a variety of twins, queens and kings. All the bedrooms have a snug sitting area where you enjoy a breakfast of muffins, yogurt and juice—left for your convenience in the in-room refrigerator. There’s also a coffee maker, fresh fruit, candy and a decanter of sherry. After a day of sightseeing or shopping enjoy wine and cheese on the terrace at Monte Verde before going out to dinner. Dogs are very welcome.
