Karen's Review Of This Property:

York, where Romans walked, Vikings ruled, and Normans conquered, is a fascinating city, its historical center encircled by a massive stone wall. The Grange, a lovely townhouse hotel, lies just beyond the city walls and ten minutes’ walk from the Minster (cathedral), making it an ideal spot for exploring this wonderful city. The morning room, which leads directly off the stone-flagged lobby, has a rich, traditional feel with its Turkish carpet and Victorian portrait hung over the fireplace. The Ivy Brasserie is more modern in style and serves modern British food. The Cellar Bar is a convivial place to meet for drinks, light meals and lunch. Each of the bedrooms—some with canopied four-poster or half-tester beds—has different decor: several are very dramatic. I was impressed by the number of ground floor rooms—handy for folks who have difficulty with stairs. York takes several days to explore: attractions include the Minster, the Jorvik Viking museum, the Treasurer’s House, the medieval streets of The Shambles, the castle and its adjacent museum, walks along the walls, and a boat ride on the River Ouse. .
