Karen's Review Of This Property:
Near the center of England lies Oakham, the proud capital of England’s smallest county, Rutland. Close by is Rutland Water where you drive onto a spit of land stretching out into the middle of the lake. At its end is the quiet village of Hambleton and a jewel of a hotel, Hambleton Hall. The staff are caring, anxious above all else to please. The motto over the front door echoes the relaxed, happy atmosphere: “Fay Ce Que Voudras” or “Do As You Please”. I cannot imagine anyone leaving Hambleton Hall discontented. The garden tumbles towards the vast expanse of water with rolling hills as a backdrop and behind a wall is a sheltered, heated pool. The interior is decorated with great flair and made lovely with enormous flower arrangements. The drawing room with its large inviting windows provides glorious water views. In fine weather enjoy lunch and tea on the terrace. Delicious smells will tempt you to the award-winning restaurant. The bedrooms are adorable, the decorations varying from soft English pastels to the vibrant rich colors of India. If you want total privacy, opt for the luxurious two-bedroom croquet pavilion. Sightseeing covers shopping in Oakham and Stamford, visits to the country houses of Burghley and Belton, and trips to Cambridge and Lincoln.
