Karen's Review Of This Property:
You’ll have no difficulty finding the Gurnard’s Head. Its bright lemon yellow exterior and name painted boldly on the roof stand out from the surrounding heathland. To step into the country pub is to experience rustic simplicity; flagstone floors, open fires in the bar, color washed walls hung with interesting artwork and paperback books (yours to borrow) filling every shelf. It’s a low-key friendly place that prides itself on excellent pub fare—simply delicious food that can be enjoyed in the bar, the restaurant, or outside in the beer garden in summer. The wine list is well priced, the beer is local. Upstairs the no frills bedrooms have twin or double beds with soft white linens, fluffy pillows, Welsh blankets, Roberts radios, checked Roman shades and tea makings. Each is provided with a simple shower or bathroom. The rugged headland (after which the hostelry is named) is just down the lane, past the cluster of farms and cottages that comprise Treen. Go walking along the coastal path to appreciate the stunning coastal views. St Ives, with its galleries and artists, and Penzance are just 7 miles distant. The Eden project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are popular daytrips.
