Karen's Review Of This Property:

Just a twenty-minute drive from Salisbury and Stonehenge, Howard’s House sits in two acres of lovely gardens in the picture-book village of Teffont Evias. Honey-colored stone cottages are strung along a quiet country lane beside the tumbling tiny River Teff. Just down the road from the grand manor house and hidden behind a tall wall, Howard’s House, built in 1623, was for many years the estate’s dower house. In 1837 the house was extended. Inspired by the architecture of Switzerland, the owner gave the house an Alpine air. The sitting room offers a large stone fireplace and French windows opening to the garden with places to sit and enjoy a drink on a warm summer evening before going in to dinner. The attractive bedrooms are decorated in quiet, restful colors. All but one (a twin) are furnished with king-sized beds. I especially liked rooms 1 and 2 with their views down the long expanse of garden. Room 3 has a romantic four-poster. Salisbury Cathedral is close by and a great draw for visitors, as are Stonehenge, Stourhead Gardens and Longleat House. An hour’s drive will bring you to the hustle and bustle of Georgian Bath or the calm serenity of the Dorset coast.

Directions: From Salisbury take the A36 to Wilton and the A30 (Shaftesbury). After 3 miles turn right (B3089) towards Mere and Teffont, then after 4½ miles, at Teffont turn left, following the sign to the hotel, 400 yards down the lane.
