Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Queensberry, set in the heart of Georgian Bath, has been a hotel for over 100 years. Long ago it was 4 townhouses which accounts for the large central stairway with the criss-crossing stairs that rise 6 stories through the building—handily there’s an elevator. This friendly boutique hotel hits just the right note between historic and modern: the building is a gem, there’s a goodly number of appropriate antiques blended with modern furniture and stylish décor—look up in the brochure. Three lounges, and a shady patio, offer internet and butlered service—there’s a collection of artisan after dinner drinks (malts, bourbons, rums and the like) that Laurence and his staff are happy to discuss with you. Quiet stylish guestrooms are priced according to size (Classic, Superior, Deluxe) with suites that were at one time enormous drawing rooms with tall and often decorative plaster ceilings. There is no shortage of restaurants in Bath but for a sophisticated place to enjoy modern British cuisine you can do no better than to slip below stairs to The Olive Tree—with a broad collection of over 220 wines. In the morning this serves as the breakfast room for Continental and full English breakfast.
